Pacific Southwest District Trust Fund Program
Our mission is to preserve the Japanese American experience in the United States by promoting civic engagement through all mediums. The Pacific Southwest (PSW) District of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is providing the opportunity with funding for programs promoted by PSW Chapters.
Main selection criteria in considering trust fund awards:
- That the proposed project promote Japanese culture
- That intended services are needed and valued in the community
- If efforts have been made to solicit other funders
- If proposed project garners strong support of the sponsoring JACL Chapter
- That a representative attend the next District Council meeting to present the project to voting members
Application Process
Please complete the front page of the JACL Trust Fund Application Form and attach proper documentation to enhance your application. A complete and well-prepared application should include:
1. Organization’s history and purpose (1 page maximum)
2. Description of the proposed project (1 page maximum)
3. Expected duration of the project (Half page maximum)
In addition to the above items, please attach a copy of the following items:
4. A copy of the Organization’s Federal Tax I.D. number
5. Organization’s current financial statement
6. Copy of the organization’s IRS tax-exemption letter
7. A detailed project budget with the proposed amount request
Please electronically submit completed applications the current PSW District Governor for initial review: [email protected]
If the District Council approves the grant, the application will be forwarded to the Trust Fund Committee to determine a final monetary award. A check will be mailed to the organization’s contact person listed on the application. Please note that the Trust Fund only awards one-time proposals.
Once your project is completed it is mandatory that you send a program or other piece of documentation to the sponsoring JACL chapter as evidence of the projects culmination. The chapter representative will then report your project at the next JACL District Council meeting.
