About Project: Community!

The purpose of Project: Community! is to develop and empower the voice of youths in Little Tokyo. Through a series of interactive sessions, high school participants will gain an understanding of identity as well as the importance of preservation of the Japanese American community. Each session will gather facilitators and speakers from various parts of the community to conduct interactive workshops focused on topics ranging from identity, to the power of place, to grassroots organizing on a youth level.

Who? High School Students (9th-12th Grades)

When? 6.00-9.30pm every Tuesday evening June 22, 2010 – August 24, 2010

  • 6/22, 6/29, 7/6, 7/13, *7/20 (Retreat), 7/27, 8/3, 8/10, *8/17, 8/24 (Culmination)

*Certain dates subject to change

Where? Japanese American Cultural and Community Center (JACCC)

Complete the application and all additional documents. All materials must be sent to the JACL PSW District Office; mailed applications must be post marked by May 21, 2010. A selection committee will make its descisions by early June 2010. A $100 registration fee will be due upon acceptance of the program.
